*ESHS Graduation 2025

A black cap and gown are required for the commencement ceremony*. Cap/Gown/Tassel units are now available for purchase through March 4, 2025! Cap/Gown/Tassel package cost is $30.95 + tax on or before March 4, 2025. After that date, prices will go up and the order will not be guaranteed to arrive by graduation day. Go to the Herff Jones website to purchase directly. 

Cap and gown sets are not available prior to Senior Checkout Day for portraits, but many portrait studios have a cap and gown that can be used for a sitting should you choose to have portraits taken.  

*No student will be excluded from the ceremony due to cap & gown cost. See your supervising teacher for a checkout form to reserve a school-owned set.

Student Performers

Student talent is featured at the graduation ceremony.  If you play an instrument or sing and are interested in performing at the graduation ceremony, please send an email indicating your performance modality (singing or playing an instrument), and number of performers (solo/duet/ensemble), to Mrs. Lilley at Cheryl.Lilley@sanjuan.edu, no later than April 4, 2025.  

Graduation Speeches

Personal commencement speeches and spoken art performances given by our students are highlights of our ceremony. If you are interested in speaking at our graduation, please submit a request via email no later than April 4, 2025. Your Supervising Teacher will be available to assist with speech preparation. Email your request to ElSerenoAS@sanjuan.edu. 

Caps and gowns may not be picked up until all items are returned and fines paid. Chromebooks checked out from any San Juan USD school and texts checked out from El Sereno may be returned to  Mrs. Weinreich in Room 1.  Textbooks checked out from other San Juan USD schools must be returned, or related fines paid, to the school from which the items were checked out. Contact Mrs. Weinreich at Rose.Weinreich@sanjuan.edu if you are unsure whether you have outstanding fees or items. 

A limited number of guest wristbands will be issued per graduate, subject to venue capacity. Wristbands will be issued at Senior Checkout, May 30, 2025.

Graduates participating in the ceremony must attend the rehearsal on June 6, 2025, at 10:15 am, at the Citrus Heights Event Center. No exceptions will be made.   

Caps and gowns are required attire during the ceremony. Graduates should consider the amount of standing they will do when selecting shoes. Gown necklines are cut low enough to show clothing worn underneath. Below are suggested guidelines:

Pick Out The Right Top

• A collared dress shirt with or without a tie
• A dress
• A scoop-neck top with a modest cut or a collared blouse

Pick Out The Right Bottom

• Dress pants, nice shorts, or a skirt 

Graduates must arrive by 6:00 pm. Guests will be admitted at 6:30 pm. The ceremony starts promptly at 7:00 pm.  Late attendees will not be admitted during the color guard’s presentation of the colors or during the graduate processional. Air horns, confetti, balloons, food and drinks (other than water) are prohibited inside the venue.  

Students will pick up their diplomas immediately following the graduation ceremony.  

Students not attending the ceremony may pick up diplomas from Mrs. Quintero, Celeste.Quintero@sanjuan.edu,  in Room 1,  June 9, 2025, through June 13, 2025, or in the fall. Please be aware that diplomas cannot be mailed.
